All good stuff to know!

We want your experience of hiring from ATP to be as simple and hassle free as possible!

Helpful staff on hand to advise you

Please call our friendly, knowledgeable staff for advice on your job or to arrange a free no-obligation local site survey.

Choosing the right access platform

Before you hire an access platform, you should consider the following:

  • At what height do you need to work at?
  • Is there any outreach required?
  • Are you working inside or outside?
  • Are there any width restrictions getting to where you are working?
  • What are the ground conditions like?
  • Is there a power supply to charge an electric machine?
  • Are there any weight restrictions?

If you can't see exactly what you need on our website, we can probably still source it for you, just ask.

Hire periods

We're really flexible. You can hire ATP access platforms for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days or on a weekly rate. 4 days and over counts as a weeks hire. We also supply machines on a contract rental basis for hires of at least 1 year.

Hire charges

The price you are quoted is always plus VAT. If you keep your platform on hire for longer than one week, we charge 1/5th of the weekly rate for each additional day the machine stays on hire. We don't charge for weekends, unless your job is a weekend only job.

Transport charges

We charge for delivery and collection based on how far we have to go!

Paying for your hire

We require cleared payment upfront on all first hires and where account facilities have not been arranged.  You can pay by card or BACS. 30 day account facilities can be arranged for regular access platform hirers (subject to credit checks) down load an account application here.

Site address and contacts

Please help us to give you great service by providing a full site address with post code, with a site contact with mobile phone number

LOLER certificates

All our machines are sent out with a current LOLER certificate in the document box. Call us if you need a copy emailing to you.

Breakdowns

No matter how well maintained, platforms can breakdown. If a lift fails on site, we will initially offer telephone engineering backup and if necessary, a site visit to repair or swap the machine over. If we find the failure is due to user error we will charge a site call out fee.

Off hiring your lift

Call us to off hire your lift when you are finished. We will give you an off hire reference number. Please leave the machine charged up and accessible for our driver to collect.

Abortive collection charges

If we are unable to collect an off-hired lift after we have travelled to your site, we will charge an abortive collection charge.

Damage and cleaning charges

If your machine is returned with damage or if it needs cleaning we will make a charge.

Fuel

Our diesel MEWPs are sent out with a full tank of fuel.  Return the platform to us FULL to avoid a re-fuelling charge.

Charging your access platform

If you need to hire a charging lead and transformer please request this when you book the lift.

Training

Employers have the responsibility to ensure staff are adequately trained on equipment used for working at height. Proof of training is sometimes required before operators can use powered access equipment on certain sites. We can organise operator training either on site, or at our Peterborough facility. There is a choice of a "in house" scissor lift and boom lift course, which can be completed in half a day, or the internationally recognised IPAF qualification.

Hand over familiarisation

Our drivers will give a short introduction to our machines on handover. This does NOT count as operator training.

Daily checks

Your operator should carry out daily checks. Down load a check list here. Damage caused by failure to carry out the daily checks is chargeable!

Insurance and ATP Access Guard

ATP Plant & Equipment Hire Limited hires access equipment subject to the Terms and Conditions of Hire. This means that customers are responsible for the equipment from when it is delivered to you and until it is collected by us or returned to our depot. As the cost of the equipment and associated parts can be considerable, we recommend you have a Hired in Plant Policy to protect you. Should you not have existing cover you can take out ATP ACCESS GUARD for a additional percentage on the hire price. ATP Plant & Equipment Hire agrees to waive their rights and cover damage and loss to equipment when on hire on the basis of normal usage and subject to terms and conditions Click here for more information about ATP ACCESS GUARD
